At Optimist International, we believe that by providing hope and positive vision, we bring out the best in youth, our communities, and ourselves. Our youth programs are designed to provide young people with the tools they need to build stronger communities and become the best versions of themselves.

Junior Optimist International is an all-inclusive youth organization that empowers young people to make their communities a better place through volunteering.
Since its formal establishment in 1988 (with roots dating back to the 1920s) JOI has grown into a global network of more than 400 clubs and 8,000 members.
This service-learning organization connects clubs throughout the world, teaching students the value of teamwork, communication, and good citizenship. Members have the opportunity to take on leadership roles at the Club, District, and International levels, helping them grow into the community leaders of tomorrow.

Optimist International is dedicated to helping students achieve their academic dreams while honing their communications and critical-thinking skills.
Since 1928, the Oratorical World Championships have helped youth under the age of 19 perfect their public speaking skills. Participants compete for a share of over $300,000 in college scholarships provided by the Optimist International Foundation and the Canadian Children's Optimist Foundation.
Our Essay Contest encourages high school students to express their views on important topics through the written word, while the Communication Contest for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (CCDHH) was established to provide a platform for students with hearing loss.

The Optimist Junior Golf Program is one of the largest and most prestigious junior golf events in the world.

Each year, thousands of boys and girls, ages 10–18, participate in more than 50 qualifying tournaments across the globe.
Top performers advance to the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship in Miami, Florida. Ranked by Golfweek and the Junior Golf Scoreboard, this event attracts dozens of college coaches every year.
Beyond the greens, the program offers scholarship opportunities through the Hugh Cranford All-Scholastic Team for students who excel both in golf and academics.

Introduced in 2023, the OWLS program is our signature initiative focused on supporting elementary school students through direct partnerships with local schools.
