Age Divisions
Age divisions for the 2025 Optimist International Junior Golf Championships are as listed below. These age divisions are the same for all official Optimist District qualifying tournaments.
PHASE 1
Boys 10-11
does not celebrate their 12th birthday on or before July 19, 2025.
Boys 12-13
does not celebrate their 14th birthday on or before July 19, 2025.
Girls 10-12
does not celebrate their 13th birthday on or before July 19, 2025.
Golfers who are nine years old as of July 19, 2025, may "play up.

PHASE 2
Boys 14-15
does not celebrate their 16th birthday on or before July 24, 2025.
Girls 13-14
does not celebrate their 15th birthday on or before July 24, 2025.

PHASE 3
does not celebrate their 19th birthday on or before July 29, 2025.
Girls 15-18
does not celebrate their 19th birthday on or before July 29, 2025.
Golfers must currently be enrolled in high school or be a 2025 high school graduate.**
**Please
Note: a golfer who is still 18 years old on July 29 and who graduated high
school in 2024 or earlier, is also eligible provided he/she has not yet attended
college.

Playing Up
Golfers are permitted to "play up" one age division, but they must qualify in the higher division. Requests to play up 2 or 3 divisions require a special request. A golfer who intends to "play up" at the international championships must "play up" at all levels of qualifying. Exempt golfers are permitted to apply to a higher division and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
Verification of Age
Participants will be required to provide a copy of a birth certificate, driver’s license, baptismal record or passport as proof of age.
