On the occasion of his retirement from the Board of Directors, a resolution in recognition of his service to the organization and signed by the Board of Directors, will be presented to each past president at the International Convention.
On the occasion of the death of a past president, the organization will provide an expression of sympathy in the form of flowers from the Past Presidents' Flower Fund, notify past presidents, current leadership and the board of directors serving with the past president, and include a 1/4 page notice of death in The Optimist magazine.
On the occasion of a serious illness of a past president, the organization will provide an expression of sympathy in the form of flowers from the Past Presidents' Flower Fund and provide notification through the Leadership Hotline.
On the occasion of the death of a sitting Board member or Vice President, the organization will provide an expression of sympathy in the form of flowers, assign a representative to attend the funeral and notify the current board of directors and the governors from the assigned vice president’s region.
On the occasion of the death of a past Board member or past Vice President, the organization will provide a written expression of sympathy and notify current board and board of Directors serving with the past board member and his assigned regional governors.
On the occasion of the death of a present governor, the organization will provide a written expression of sympathy and shall provide notice in the Leadership Hotline publication.
On the occasion of the death of a spouse of a current or past president, the organization will provide a written expression of sympathy, and notify the members of the board serving with that past president.
On the occasion of the death of any Executive Director Emeritus, the organization will provide a written expression to the family and include a mention in The Optimist magazine
