Optimist International Guidelines

Right of Refusal

Optimist International (OI) retains the right to refuse any potential advertisement. All advertising copy is subject to the publisher’s approval.

The Optimist magazine will not accept advertising for the following items: products not compatible with the purposes of OI or programs that conflict with programs promoted by the Optimist International Foundation or Canadian Children’s Optimist Foundation.

The Optimist Magazine–Copyrights

The entire contents of the Optimist magazine are copyrighted; and, therefore, anyone wishing to reprint from the Optimist magazine must secure permission to do so.

Reprinted articles must display the following credit line: "Reprinted from the Optimist magazine, copyright, Optimist International (OI)."

Optimist clubs may reprint articles from the Optimist magazine without securing permission, providing the above credit line is used.

Optimist International does not have the right to grant permission to reprint an article in the Optimist magazine bearing copyright of the author or of another publication. Such permission must be obtained from the person or publication holding the original copyright.

Before any article under the byline of Optimist International is published in any magazine, it must be cleared through the International Executive Director.
