Practice Rounds
Each player is entitled to one official practice round at no cost on Friday, July 23. Please call PGA National Golf Club at (561) 627-1804, option #3, to arrange your practice round tee time. Additional practice rounds are available for $56 per person (includes mandatory cart). This rate is good two days prior to the start of the tournament. Please report to the first tee at your pre-scheduled practice round tee time. Carts or caddies are not allowed during official practice rounds.

Pairings
Tournament pairings for the Saturday rounds will be posted at PGA National Resort & Spa on Friday evening, July 23. Tee times will be posted on Saturday and Sunday evening for the next day of tournament play.

- Players are required to adhere to the OIJGC Code of Conduct that is included in these registration materials.
- Players in the 10-11 and 12-13 age divisions may use pull carts during the tournament, but they must provide their own equipment.
- If play is stopped on the final day of the tournament, and it is determined that players cannot complete play by dark, the tournament will revert back to the last 18 holes completed by the entire field.
- In the event of inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances, the OIJGC reserves the right to adjust the tournament format.

Long Drive Contest
A long drive contest will be held on selected holes during practice rounds on Friday, July 23. The top three boys and girls in each age division will compete for awards in a shootout at 7:15 p.m. on the Champion range.

Adult Tournament
The annual Adult Tournament will take place on Friday, July 23, on the Haig course.
Lunch will be served at 11 a.m. Tee times will start at noon. Register by calling (561) 627-1800 ext. 5511 or send name and week to play via fax, (561) 622-1651, or e-mail, max.deisch@pga-resorts.com. The $65 registration fee includes lunch, greens fee, cart, range balls and awards. Entry deadline is July 22.

Spectators
Spectator rules will be in effect at PGA National for all non-participants. These will be covered at the player orientation on Friday, July 23. CARTS WILL NOT BE AVAILABLE TO SPECTATORS FOR ALL PRACTICE & TOURNAMENT ROUNDS (NO EXCEPTIONS).

Practice Rounds

Tournament pairings for the Thursday rounds will be posted at PGA National Resort & Spa on Wednesday evening, July 28. Tee times will be posted on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening for the next day of tournament play. Championship rounds will take place on Sunday morning; all participants in these finals will be announced on Saturday afternoon. Players will be paired randomly for the first day of play and then paired by scores the following days. Boys will play one round on the General and two rounds on the Champion. Boys’ finals will be played on the Champion. Girls will play one round on the Squire and two rounds on the Haig.
Girls’ finals will be played on the Haig.

Sunday Tournament
This tournament will be available to all players not making the cut for the finals. There will be an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start on the General course, individual stroke play. Sign up in the Golf Shop by July 31 at 6 p.m. Greens fees and awards provided by OIJGC.

Long Drive Contest

Accommodations
Once registrations are received, the OIJGC will assign players and their guests a hotel room. Any players traveling by themselves will be paired with players of comparable age and gender. Roommate changes are not permitted. Roommates are responsible for dividing and paying all personal room charges before their departure. Hotel room assignments will be available only upon arrival at PGA National. Please do not call PGA National Resort & Spa with questions regarding the OIJGC or tournament accommodations. All tournament meals, golf and recreational functions will take place on the property of PGA National Resort & Spa. Optimist chaperones, along with PGA National Resort & Spa’s security staff, will be on hand at all times at the resort to supervise tournament participants. These individuals will enforce the OIJGC Code of Conduct both on and off the golf course.

PGA National Resort & Spa is located in beautiful Palm Beach County, Florida. The PGA of America has been headquartered at PGA National for more than 25 years. The 2004 OIJGC will be using four of the resort’s premium courses: the Champion, the Squire, the General and the Haig. In addition to golf, your days will be filled with activities such as swimming, sand volleyball, basketball, tennis and the OIJGC contests and game room. So bring your swimsuit, suntan lotion and athletic shoes to the tournament and fully enjoy this world-class facility that offers the best of South Florida!

Housing Policy
Participants traveling alone to the OIJGC will be housed in the main hotel at PGA National Resort & Spa. Participants traveling with guests will be housed at either the main hotel or in a club cottage. Should a need arise, the OIJGC reserves the right to house players and their guests at an offsite property.

Meals
Each registered participant will receive a meal badge valid for five breakfasts and five dinners. The badge is only valid for meals in the PGA Grand Ballroom. Individual meal tickets will not be sold. Lunch vouchers are available for sale for $42 for a book of four. Lunch vouchers are valid in Legends Room from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., on the golf courses all day, and in the 19th Hole from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. For alternate dining options, there are five restaurants located on resort property.

Registration Information
This year, junior golf’s only “Olympic Village” can be found at the 2004 OIJGC at PGA National Resort & Spa! The $580 US player registration fee includes the following:
- Five nights of lodging at PGA National Resort & Spa.
- Tournament meal badge for five breakfasts and five dinners.
- One official practice round.
- Official tournament rounds.
- Driving range and putting green privileges.
- Tournament entertainment.

Registrations must be received by June 30. All guests must register at the same time as players. On-site registrations will not be accepted. Room reservations for the OIJGC may not be made by calling PGA National Resort & Spa.

Traveling to the OIJGC
PGA National Resort & Spa is easily accessible from many Florida airports. Here are the approximate distances from four international airports:
- Palm Beach International (West Palm Beach) – 15 miles
- Ft. Lauderdale Hollywood International – 60 miles
- Miami International – 80 miles
- Orlando International – 160 miles

Driving Directions
PGA National Resort & Spa is located west of I-95 off PGA Boulevard at 1000 Avenue of the Champions, Palm Beach Gardens, Florida 33410.

Shuttle Service
Yellow Brick Roads is the official transportation service of the 2004 OIJGC for participants arriving/departing at Palm Beach International Airport.
Transfer Fares:
- $30 per person, prepaid in US dollars, all ages for round-trip transportation provided on July 22, 27 & Aug. 1 before 9:30 p.m.
- $39 per person, prepaid in US dollars, all ages for round-trip transportation on any other day or after 9:30 p.m. on July 22, 27 & Aug. 1.
- $20 per person, prepaid in US dollars, for all ages for one-way transportation on any day. Reservations must be made by contacting Yellow Brick Roads at the number or e mail listed below. Fees can be paid with Visa, MasterCard or American Express (cash only on-site). Please make sure you identify yourself as a participant of the OIJGC. Advanced reservations are recommended, as on-site transportation will be available only on a limited basis. When making your reservation, please be prepared to give the following information: your name and the names of all guests traveling with you, phone number, address, airline, flight number, arrival/departure times and credit card information. OIJGC Code of Conduct
The OIJGC takes great pride in the quality of its players, host facility and volunteer involvement at the Tournament. In order to continue making the OIJGC enjoyable for everyone, the Tournament Committee requires all players to adhere to a set of guidelines known as the Code of Conduct. Its purpose is to help OIJGC participants grow and mature by understanding and accepting the consequences of their actions. The Code of Conduct is to be followed throughout the player’s stay at the Tournament starting at the time of registration.

Tournament play will be conducted in accordance with USGA rules, in addition to the following Code of Conduct and local course rules. OIJGC participants are expected to conduct themselves in proper fashion both on and off the course for the duration of the event.

Violations of the Code of Conduct on the Course
- Unsportsmanlike conduct, including abusive language, club throwing, disrespect to volunteers, officials or fellow competitors, or abuse of golf course property.
- Use of drugs or alcohol, smoking or chewing tobacco products. A zero tolerance policy is in effect.
- Not adhering to the dress code during practice round or tournament play.

Violations of the Code of Conduct off the Course
- Any use or association with drugs or alcohol, smoking or chewing tobacco products is prohibited.
- Vandalism at the hotel or its surrounding properties, abusive behavior to any volunteer or tournament official.
- Damages in any rooms will be the financial responsibility of the players occupying the room. Please report any accidental damage to your chaperone or at the Tournament office.
- All players must comply with the Tournament curfew of 11:00 p.m. local time. You must be in your room by the curfew and remain in your room for the remainder of the night unless accompanied by an adult chaperone, parent or legal guardian. Nightly random room checks will be made.
- Leaving the resort property is not permitted unless accompanied by an adult chaperone, parent or guardian.
- Gambling is not permitted. Any games involving the exchange of money are strictly prohibited.
- Male and female participants may not occupy the same room at any time.
- Roommate changes are not permitted. Once you are assigned to a room you may not change rooms. No exceptions!

Dress Code
- Proper golf attire is required at all times during the practice round and Tournament play. Questionable attire will be reviewed by the Tournament Director. Players in violation of the Dress Code will not be permitted to tee off and may be assessed stroke penalties.
- Hats/visors must be worn with brim forward.
- Collared shirts must be worn and tucked in at all times.
- No tank tops, short-shorts, denim shorts, cut-off shorts, gym shorts, T-shirts or jeans.

Code of Conduct Violation Penalties
- One stroke penalty for each act of unsportsmanlike behavior on the golf course.
- A serious act of unsportsmanlike behavior on the course may result in the player being immediately disqualified from the Tournament, subject to review of the Rules Committee.

Any Code of Conduct violation off the course may also result in the player being disqualified from the Tournament and immediately sent home subject to review of the Tournament Committee.

OIJGC Withdrawal Policy
This policy will allow for withdrawals for medical reasons or for emergencies. The medical reason must be verified and approved by the onsite paramedics. The reason will only be acceptable if the player is unable to complete their round before darkness, or in the case of the last day of competition by the posted time for completion of play. All play must comply with all current Tournament Rules and Policies. The player must notify and receive approval of a Rules Official prior to leaving the course. The decision of the Rules Committee is final. If a family emergency, on or off site occurs, the Rules Committee may allow a player to withdraw. The reason or reasons must be verified by the Rules Committee. All printed and published results at the end of the Tournament will reflect a withdrew status.

OIJGC Disqualification Policy
Disqualification will occur if during a competitive round of the Tournament a player refuses to continue play after a paramedic releases the player to continue play. Failure to report for your tee time, leaving the course without the notification and approval of a Rules Official, or any other already published reason will also result in automatic disqualification. All printed and published results at the end of the Tournament will reflect a disqualified status.

Additional Details

Merchandise
The official tournament shirt is a yellow and black Greg Norman pencil-striped polo. The shirt is made with PlayDry, Greg Norman’s high-tech moisture wicking fabric. Adult (men’s) sizes are available for a pre-sale price of $42 in sizes Small through XXLarge. Junior sizes are available for a pre-sale price of $38 in sizes Small through X-Large. Ladies shirts are a sleeveless version and will pre-sell for $38 in sizes Small through X-Large. Participants are encouraged to pre-order shirts on their registration form to ensure correct sizes are available. During the tournament, a limited number of shirts will be sold in the Pro Shop for $45.

PGA National and the OIJGC will also be selling full-sized umbrellas and tournament towels. The umbrella is a 62-inch navy blue windproof double canopy umbrella with a fiberglass shaft displaying the tournament logo. Umbrellas are available for a pre-sale price of $18. The towel is a khaki and blue custom dyed-edge open bag towel displaying the OIJGC and PGA National logos. Tournament towels are available for a pre-sale price of $10. During the tournament, the Pro Shop will sell a limited number of umbrellas for $20 and towels for $12.

It is advised that golfers traveling alone bring a credit card to pay for expenses such as airport shuttle transportation, long-distance phone calls, OIJGC merchandise and tournament souvenirs.

Special Guest
Please welcome George “The Animal” Slupski to the 2004 OIJGC! George has been conducting Long Drive Exhibitions, Clinics and Trick Shot Demonstrations since 1989. He is a 13-time World Long Drive Finalist, holds more than 20 professional Long Drive titles and is consistently ranked as one of the top six Long Drivers in the world with a personal best of 437 yards. George’s exhibition will include an instructional presentation and a trick shot demonstration that includes hitting a golf ball through a 400-page phone book, through a 3/4-inch piece of plywood, and from 3-, 4-, and 5-foot-tall tees. His show is certain to entertain and amaze! George “The Animal” Slupski will perform during the Long Drive Finals on Friday, July 23, and Wednesday, July 28, at 7:15 p.m. on the Champion Range.

Photography
Back by popular demand, Fortson Photography, the official photographer of PGA National Resort & Spa, will photograph junior golfers participating in the OIJGC. Participants may purchase photographs for $20. Staff from Fortson Photography will accept on-site orders on registration day, but advanced payments are preferred. Photography may be ordered by calling (561) 478-7676 or by e-mailing golf12@earthlink.net. All major credit cards are accepted.

Parents, friends and fans of the OIJGC will be able to track the success of their favorite junior golfers on the Internet at www.optimist.org. Daily stories, photos, scores and more will be posted each evening of tournament play.

An OIJGC Media Questionnaire will be sent to all junior golfers along with your confirmation letter. Please make sure to include your hometown media information so we may broadcast your success to your local newspapers and television stations!
