Hugh Cranford All-Scholastic Team

The 2016 All-Scholastic team has been chosen. The quality of the applicants were outstanding in terms of academic achievements and community service. The committee reviewed all applications thoroughly and was faced with extremely difficult choices. Thank you to all golfers who submitted an application.

The 2016 Hugh Cranford All-Scholastic Team is a special award recognizing the academic accomplishments and community service record of junior golfers.

The team will consist of five golfers between the ages of 16 and 18 as of the last day of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships (August 4, 2016). Junior golfers selected to the team will receive an automatic exemption into the championships and complimentary registration (the selected participant’s registration fee—which is inclusive of tournament entry, hotel accommodations and meals—will be waived). The exemption includes an invitation to participate in the 2016 Optimist International Junior Golf Championships without having to play in a qualifying tournament. Junior golfers who are interested in applying should read the steps below and submit an application.

The Optimist Junior Golf Committee will review applications and all applicants will be notified of their status in writing by May 1, 2016. Applicants will be considered based on their academic record but must also show that they have acceptable tournament experience to be able to compete at the international level. In addition, all applicants' community service experience will be reviewed for consideration for the "Bringing Out the Best in Kids" Community Service Award.

If you have any questions, please contact Sharon Parton, Junior Golf Director, at golf@optimist.org, (314) 881-1307 or toll free (800) 500-8130, ext. 207.
