About Optimist Junior Golf

The Optimist Junior Golf Program is an exciting and unique junior golf program for ages 10-18. Boys and girls around the world compete in official Optimist qualifying tournaments. The best of these golfers advance to the annual Optimist International Junior Golf Championships. Commonly referred to as simply "The Optimist". The Optimist International Junior Golf Championship is one of the largest and most prestigious junior golf events in the world. In addition to top-level tournament golf, participants have the opportunity to compete against other Junior Golfers from all around the globe, make new friends and have a great deal of fun. Each year, more than 660 junior golfers from 30 countries participate in The Optimist. The Optimist Junior Golf Championship also attracts over 30 College coaches each year and is ranked by JuniorGolf Scoreboard, Golfweek, Amateur World and receives AJGA Performance Based Stars.
Trump National Doral Resort and Spa Miami, Florida. Miami’s legendary resort and world-class destination is conveniently 8 miles from Miami International Airport. The prestigious resort boasts four championship golf courses among them the legendary Blue Monster. Without a doubt, Blue Monster’s most famous hole is the 18th. It is consistently ranked as one of the Top 100 Holes in the World by GOLF Magazine.” Through the years Trump National Doral Resort and Spa Miami has been the location of several PGA Tour events including the Doral Open and WGC Cadillac Championship. Coming December 2022 is the LIV Golf.
Former champions of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championship include Lexi Thompson, Jason Day, Beth Bauer, Jonathan Byrd, Bubba Dickerson, Brittany Lincicome, Jeff Overton, Stacy Prammanasudh and Jennifer Rosales among others. Several other well-known professional golfers have participated in Optimist-sponsored championships as well, including Amy Alcott, Notah Begay III, Brandie Burton, John Daly, Ernie Els, Justin Leonard, Davis Love III, Billy Mayfair, Michelle McGann, Phil Mickelson, Nancy Lopez, Lorena Ochoa, Corey Pavin, Nick Price, Chris Riley, Scottie Scheffler, Craig Stadler, Paul Stankowski, David Toms and Tiger Woods.
Optimist International Tournament of Champions: a junior golf championship event for top finishers of the summer Optimist International Junior Golf Championships, winners of Optimist District qualifiers, golfers who are included in the Top 100 overall Golfweek and Junior Golf Scoreboard rankings and other top junior golfers. This junior championship tournament is a 36-hole event for male and female junior golfers ages 11-18. The Tournament of Champions will take place at Mission Inn Resort located in Howie-In-the-Hills, Florida.

The Tournament of Champions includes junior golfers from all over the world. The tournament is nationally ranked by the Junior Golf Scoreboard, Golfweek and is included in the AJGA Performance Based Entry process.

Optimist Junior Golf also offers the Optimist Junior Golf Tour Events: These 36-hole events are for male and female junior golfers ages 11-18. These are additional qualifiers for the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships and ranked by Junior Golf Scoreboard.
