This contest is open to Optimist adult clubs, Optimist youth (JOOI) clubs, community groups, nonprofits, organizations and individuals located in the U.S., Canada, and the Caribbean nations of Anguilla, Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Haiti, Jamaica, Saint Lucia. Employees, directors and officers of Optimist International, the Optimist International Foundation and the Canadian Children’s Optimist Foundation are not eligible to participate. Upon entering this contest, entrants agree to waive any rights their state, province or nation of residence may provide in regard to contests. This contest is void where prohibited by law.

You must have a Facebook account and have allowed the Optimist International Facebook application permission in order to participate. All entries completed correctly will be considered as a potential contest finalist.

The contest starts at 10:00 AM Central Standard Time on February 17, 2016 and ends at 11:59 PM Central Standard Time on April 15, 2016 (the “Entry Period”). All entries must be received no later than 11:59 PM on April 15, 2016. Limit one entry per Optimist club, community group, nonprofit, organization or individual. All entries submitted become the sole property of Optimist International and will not be returned. Entries generated by a script, macro or other automated means are prohibited and will be automatically disqualified.

A limited number of finalists will be selected in each category by the Optimist International Marketing & Communications committee. The selection of finalists will be announced after May 10, 2016 on the Optimist International Facebook page, website and other social media channels. All decisions are final.

A public voting period will be held from 10:00 AM Central Standard Time on May 10, 2016 until 11:59 PM Central Standard Time May 31, 2016, on the Optimist International Facebook page. Votes are cast on the contest page and users may submit one vote per IP address per day. The videos receiving the most votes in each category will be considered the category winners. An additional in-person voting round will be held at the 2016 Optimist International Convention to determine the winner of the bonus prize.

Best Club Showcase award - $1,000 Club grant. Best Youth Club Showcase award - $1,000 Club grant. Best Put Your Optimism on Display award - $1,000 grant. Bonus prize of $500 awarded to the winner of the onsite voting at the 2016 Optimist International Convention.

Optimist adult and youth Clubs that receive a Club grant award must use the funds for a Club project that benefits youth in their community. **Winner of the Put Your Optimism on Display grant must designate a recognized youth charity in their community to receive the grant. This grant will be issued to the designated charity in the contest winner’s name.

This contest is governed by the laws of the United States. All federal, state/provincial and local laws and regulations apply. This contest is void where prohibited by law. Winners will be notified by e-mail or telephone. If the winner cannot be reached at the e-mail address or telephone number submitted with entry, or if the prize or prize notification is returned as unclaimed or undeliverable, the prize will be forfeited and an alternate winner will be selected. No prize transfer is permitted. Limit one prize per club/organization/individual. Participants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Optimist International are final and binding in all respects. All submissions become the property of Optimist International. No photos or videos will be returned. By uploading content such as photograph image and video files, entrants agree to give Optimist International irrevocable nonexclusive royalty-free rights to use the video for any purpose including publication, display, modification, and creation of derivative works. By making a submission to the Project, participants acknowledge and agree that such submission will be brought within the public domain and Optimist International will not be held liable for any copying, re-posting or unlawful use of the submission that may result. Participants agree to indemnify and save harmless Optimist International and its respective directors, officers, agents, employees, representatives, successor, assigns, (collectively, the “Indemnified Parties”) from and against any and all claims, demands, actions, causes of action, damages, costs or expenses arising out of or in connection with the posting of a submission on Facebook, a breach of any of these conditions and any actual or alleged infringement or misappropriation of any third party proprietary rights. By participating and accepting a prize, so long as there is no legal prohibition, winner agrees to the use of his/her name for advertising or publicity purposes and to the use of statements made by or attributed to him/her relating to Optimist International or this promotion, and releases any and all rights to said use without further compensation. In the event of a dispute, all entries will be deemed to be made by the holder of the e-mail account associated with the entry.

All entrants release Optimist International and its subsidiaries, affiliates, officers, directors, agents, employees and all others associated with the development and execution of Optimist International and the contest from any and all liability with respect to or in any way arising from this contest and/or acceptance or use of the prizes, including liability for personal injury, death, damages, or loss. The winners will be announced at the 2016 Optimist International Convention, June 30-July 2, 2016 in Quebec City. The winners will also be posted on the Optimist International website and the official Optimist International Facebook page.
