Official Qualifying Tournaments for the Optimist International
Junior Golf Championships
Optimist Districts conduct official qualifying tournaments for the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships. These qualifying tournaments are organized by Optimist Clubs and their volunteers and are overseen by a District Chairperson. A limited number of golfers in each age division qualify for the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships provided they meet the established qualifying criteria.

Some Districts do not offer a qualifying tournament or do not offer all age divisions. Golfers who live in these Districts are encouraged to travel to another District to attempt to qualify or may submit an At Large Application. At Large applications will only be accepted from golfers in the Boys 10-11 & 12-13 and Girls 10-12 & 13-14 age divisions. If a golfer in the Boys 14-15, Boys 16-18 or Girls 15-18 division lives in an Optimist District that does not offer a qualifier in their division, he/she must travel to another District's tournament to attempt to qualify.
Each participating in a Optimist District will sponsor the first place winner in the Boys 16-18 and Girls 15-18 age divisions from their own District to the championships at PGA National Resort & Spa. Sponsorship includes payment of the all-inclusive registration fee (includes practice round & tournament rounds, five nights lodging, meal badge valid for five breakfasts and four dinners, driving range and putting green privileges, and access to all Optimist recreation and entertainment functions). If funds allow, Districts may pay for travel, lunches and incidental costs and may sponsor winners and/or qualifiers from other age divisions. If a junior golfer qualifies outside of his/her home District, there is no guarantee that the golfer's registration fees will be paid should they win the event. Please contact your District Chair for details.
