Optimist
Junior Golf will accept a limited number of special invitees in each age division
into the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships through this method.
Applicants must meet one of the criteria below to be considered for a special
invitation to participation. Submission of an application DOES NOT guarantee
acceptance. All applicants are strongly encouraged to participate in an
Optimist District qualifier in
case their application is not accepted.
Application
Criteria
In
order to be considered for a special invitation, applicants must fit into at
least one of the following categories. Applications will be considered
in priority order as listed numerically below. If Optimist Junior Golf
receives an application that does not fit into at least one of the following
categories, the application will not be considered. No exceptions.
(1)
Junior golfers who are ranked in
the top 100 boys or girls overall rankings of the Golfweekjunior rankings as of May 31, 2012. This is is the top 100 overall
rankings, not a ranking by high school graduation year, state or other sub-category.
(2)
Junior golfers who are ranked in the top 100 boys or girls overall rankings
of the Junior
Golf Scoreboardrankings as of May 31, 2012. This
is is the top 100 overall rankings, not a ranking by high school graduation
year, state or other sub-category.
(3)
Age
division champions of the following junior golf events (most recent tournament
happening prior to May 31, 2012).

How to Apply
Golfers who fit into at least one
of the categories above must submit an application to Optimist Junior Golf to
be considered. Applications will be accepted beginning February 10, 2012,
and the deadline to apply is June 1, 2012. Applicants will be notified
of their status by June 5, 2012. Accepted applicants will receive a special
invitation to participate in the 2012 Optimist
International Junior Golf Championships and will be required to register
for the championships by June 30, 2012.

The Optimist
International Junior Golf Championships is nationally ranked by the Junior
Golf Scoreboard and Golfweek and is included in the AJGA Performance Based
Entry process.
