The 2015 Hugh Cranford All-Scholastic Team is a special award recognizing the academic accomplishments and community service record of junior golfers.
The team will consist of five golfers between the ages of 16 and 18 as of the last day of the Optimist International Junior Golf Championships (July 31, 2015). Junior golfers selected to the team will receive an automatic exemption into the championships and complimentary registration (the selected participant’s registration fee—which is inclusive of tournament entry, hotel accommodations and meals—will be waived). The exemption includes an invitation to participate in the 2015 Optimist International Junior Golf Championships without having to play in a qualifying tournament. Junior golfers who are interested in applying should read the steps below and submit an application.
Applications are being accepted for the 2015 Optimist International All-Scholastic Team.
(1) Download and print the
2015 Optimist International All-Scholastic Team application packet.
(2) Complete the application
(3) Include a writing sample
(250 to 500 words) on the topic indicated.
(4) Attach supporting documentation.
The following items are the only items that will be accepted:
current school transcript, most-recent grade report, and test results.
Additional attachments will not be accepted.
(5) Send the application to
the following address. Application must be postmarked no later than
April 5, 2015 and received in the St. Louis Office by April 10, 2015.

Hugh Cranford served as Executive Director of Optimist
International from 1967 to 1986. He was instrumental in starting the
Optimist Junior Golf program and in 1978 led the efforts to co-sponsor
the Optimist Junior World Golf Championships in San Diego, the forerunner
to today’s Optimist International Junior Golf Championships. Hugh passed away August 2014
