What are your primary qualifications for this office?
I have been an Optimist Member for 23 years and have held positions with increasing levels of responsibility. Each position has afforded me the ability to improve my leadership and management skills. My attention to details in solving problems, my business experience, my initiative, my perseverance and my excellent comprehension of French and English would be important qualifications for this office.
Why should a Club vote for you?
First and foremost I am a Member of a Club. I would work with Optimist International and with its Membership (Clubs), to find ways to help our organization grow. Communication is the key to finding ways to grow within our communities. We need new marketing strategies to improve the recognition of our organization. Our mission is, by providing hope and positive vision, Optimists bring out the best in kids. I believe the changes that need to be made for our future are: growth through new Clubs, increasing Membership, retaining existing Members and marketing (greater visibility for our organization – who we are and what we do).
As an Optimist International Board Member, what specific things will you work to achieve for the good of the organization?
For the good of the organization, our most critical issue is growth and marketing. I would like to bring new ideas (from Membership) to the Board. It is imperative that we find solutions to these issues. I know it can be done through communication. As a Board Member, we have to be the voice of our membership.
Anything else you would like to say to Clubs?
I am a person with experience, a person you can depend on, a person that will voice the concerns of and represent each and every one of you, a person that will put in 110% in serving as your Board Member.
